Color Mitigation
Construction, notably in desert areas, often exposes large, unsightly areas of exposed rock visible from great distances. Construction of roads, dams, housing developments, and pipelines all contribute to this form of visual pollution. Given that Nature’s timetable in restoring the desert varnish or desert patina to the scarred areas takes thousands of years, the challenge was to develop an artificial desert varnish that would produce natural, aged appearances in days rather than centuries. And to do so in an environmentally friendly manner so the application would pose no threat to plants, animals or the applicators. In 1974 the original simulated desert varnish was developed at Arizona State University under the guidance of Dr. Carleton Moore. This valuable product, Permeon™, was perfected and exclusive rights were awarded to Soil-Tech, Inc. Typical applications include rock cuts, mining scars, haul roads, rip-rap, landscape boulders and reservoirs. Applications on concrete include retaining walls, shore lines of man made lakes, cart paths, aged appearance structures, and many other construction projects.

Dust & Erosion Control
Responding to the essential need for comprehensive soil management on developments to not only reduce pollution but to recognizing the powerful need to (and expensive) desert water resources, Soil-Tech takes a comprehensive approach to dust- and soil erosion-control. With extensive knowledge of the southwest’s climate and soil conditions and a fleet of application trucks to handle any size project, Soil-Tech is a recognized industry leader with state and local municipalities as well as private contractors. Soil-Tech has mainstreamed and developed an assortment of environmentally friendly products that mitigate dust pollution, control erosion, and use less water than traditional dust control practices such as using watering techniques. Native Resources
As a natural part of Soil-Tech’s environmental restoration solution, Native Resources specializes in Mojave Desert preservation and restoration. Beginning with environmental survey and data collection, Native Resources Nevada offers a full array of invaluable services designed to minimize the impact of your construction project, whatever size it may be, and restore the land you use to its original condition. Techniques used are to salvage the native plant material, move it out of harms way and return it back to its original location after construction to mimic adjacent native landscape. The goal is to make it look like it's been untouched. By preserving and replanting native vegetation and integrating finished project sites back into their natural surroundings, Soil-Tech’s Native Resources Nevada offers a powerful tool for today’s environmentally-conscious planner.
